Hi

AutoCAD and Inventor have completely different workflows. As do other 2D and 3D CAD programs. Using AutoCAD to learn Inventor is a sure-fire path to frustration.

In 3D CAD programs, there is no such thing as a description scale. There is a product (part) that has its own properties, including dimensional parameters defining the dimensions of that element.

There are many methods and workflows for creating similar elements:

  1. Derived Part
  2. Model States
  3. iPart
  4. iLogic (rules and forms)
  5. Parameterization

Each of these methods will produce a slightly different result (in the context of data management, not geometry) and will be optimal in a different situation.

Hi, are you wanting to change a dimension in the drawing and expect the 3D part to also change? Unfortunately this is not possible in Inventor.

To scale you need to go to the part and change the dimensions in there.

If you just want a scaled version of something, you can try using Derive and then setting the scale in the options there.

I apologize beforehand.

I just asked. Is it possible to change the dimension scale like in AutoCAD? I think it can happen because AutoCAD and Inventor are from Autodesk.

Dimension scale can be changed in the styles and standards editor. There are loads of settings in here so you need to find the specific one you want. I'm not sure if you're trying to change the size or the actual value.

if you want the dimension text in a different scale, you'll have to create a new dimension style and select a different text style for the annotation. It might be possible that the size you need isn't available yet in your style library, so then you'll also need to create a new text style.

I'll admit that it's a bit more cumbersome compared to AutoCAD, but unfortunately it's the only way.

It would perhaps be handy to have the ability to locally override the style for each (or multiple) dimension(s), much like the edge properties and choose the font height from there.
