How fast is your Inventor PC really?

Hi guys,

We have had to do some testing on a bunch of Inventor PC's recently to determine which of the PC's needs to be replaced. Obviously we needed to find out which of the PC's are the worst eprformers as there was only budget to replace 50% of the design PC's. So we thought the Darwin theory will come in handy right... 🙂

Anyways I started searching on the net for toppics on how to benchmark an Inventor PC. Then I thought whats the point of using gaming benchmark tools because Inventor is not a game and there are more aspects than just graphics performance when it comes to percieved performance on an Inventor PC right.

So we decided to create our own Inventor benchmark tool which tests various aspects of an Inventor PC to give us an overview of our PC's performance. This then helped us make a decision as to whcih pc's to replace.

We have made the tool available free of charge to anyone interested in checking how their PC stacks up to their peers or friends. 🙂

Please download it here and post your results here as well if you want. Would be interesting to see what beast workstations are out there.

I would like to say thanks to Kirk #karthur1, for helping in testing the app.

Please feel free to send any suggestions our way. There is an email link in the app.

Download and Install

The application will work with Inventor 2014 to 2016 only.

IMPORTANT: After installation there will be an Inventor Bench icon on your desktop that looks like this: 32x32.png

Good for you...I agree.

If I had to buy industrial solutions, I'd go with Dell.

I've had nothing but problems with the HP drivers on every HP I used.

Lenovo/IBM/ThinkPad, etc., not even a consideration.

The only things I hate about Dell is their warranty service sucks (they always send used parts!), and their tech support is 3rd world shyt.

So basically you're on your own when you buy industrial solutions, IMO.

HP warranty support wasn't all that bad, I must say, but the constant driver updates negates that benefit.

Some people I know get MSI and really like them, but they're a bit pricey.

Others buy very expensive custom boxes (some are cryo-cooled!).

@Anonymous you should run the InvMark Benchmark.  I guarantee you'll find that your computer is a very poor performer.

Of the 102 scores, #100 is the same CPU you have.

Info for Neil:

That's what happens here at the end of InvMark 1.7.0.0

@WHolzwarth I haven't seen that one yet in the 2 months since we've been live and the 16 months since we began making this! That looks like a very unusual "beta" message that you wouldn't expect to see in the RTM build, @ChrisMitchell01 do you recognise this "bug alert" prompt?

That error isn't a Beta message but it shouldn't typically be displayed in released builds. It suggests that a low level API error wasn't caught & handled properly. Generally they are very hard to debug since the easier ones are caught/handled correctly with a more meaningful action or error message.

Is it reproducible?

Thanks

Chris

Thanks for your answer, but please help to point out the reason why you think my computer is performing poorly.
Can you suggest me any solution other than investing in a new computer?

You have received multiples advices on how to improve your system. Nobody suggested a new hard drive would improve your system and yet you changed it...

Next time you need to invest in a Workstation, don't go buy a 10 years old computer at the pawn shop...

Hi @Anonymous,

Given that the CPU is king when it comes to Inventor, a new CPU will be needed for significantly better performance which means you might as well start from the ground up with the newer hardware.

There's an entire leaderboard here with the best hardware configs as of today: https://invmark.cadac.com/#/

It was pointed out to you that you're using old CPU / RAM / Motherboard

There is nothing you can do other than... investing in a new computer.  Anything you put into that will be a waste of time and money.

In the end, do you have any problem with Inventor ? Do you feel you are slowed down by your computer ? What do you do with it ? Very large assemblies ? How many parts in your biggest assemblies ?

Hi Chris,
nice to see you. It didn't appear with a former version of InvMark, but it happens every time after InvMark 1.7.0.0 is ending.

Good morning Mr Soares,

I'm not sure I understand your query completely - are you asking about job offers for freelance work?

Because that is not the topic in this thread, or indeed this entire forum.

If I understood correctly, please redirect that inquiry to an appropriate forum. If I misunderstood, feel free to rephrase your question.

Best regards,

Christian Neumayer

Hi Christian

That's what I asked.
What would be the appropriate forum?
Can you recommend one to me?

Thanks!

Your answer was terrible.
Offending others is not a good thing to do in a professional forum.
If you have nothing to add, better not say anything.

There was nothing wrong with his response. It was spot on.

You are being rude.  You come here seeking help.  But you offer little to no info.  vmcarbonneau and others have asked you questions in an attempt to help you.  And you consistently don't answer any questions.
