How do I repair this surface?

The picture below shows the issue I'm having. There's a hard corner that is missing a surface to make this object a solid (import from Rhino). I've tried doing a few different things in the repair environment without success. Any ideas on how to create the triangular surface necessary to close this volume and trim the bounding surface... I can't create sketches or planes in the repair environment and I can't do a patch since it's missing a specific boarder...Surface Modeling Repair.jpg

I would try "untrimming" (Extract Loop) in the Construction Environment or Extend Surface and Trim.

If you want a more precise answer - attach your *.ipt file here.

I've scrubbed and reduced the file to the above question. I'll try doing your suggestion and report back, but in the meantime here's the IPT.

There are an infinite number of solutions depending on how you want to close that corner - I suspect that what I would really do is start over from scratch and model the part correctly.

In any case - see attached for one solution.

I -

copied to Construction

Unstitched the surfaces

ran a Quality Check

Grouped the 3 surfaces involved at the corner

Stitched the rest

Copied all back to the modeling environment

Stitched the edges in a particular order.

Thanks for the step-by-step. It actually helped me get to the solution that worked best for this instance (I unfortunately couldn't shoot this back to be fixed up in the native environment).

The solution I came up with was to:

copy to construction,

copy objects as surfaces,

modify the surfaces by 2D sketch,

Create a patch,

Trim overhanging surface to patch,

and finally; stich together to create a solid.
