How do i get most common ISO materials?

So with a new company comes new materials library. And Inventor does not contain common material qualities it seems.. I would like to have S235 and S355 stored at the very least. Does anyone know where to find or have  a solid Inventor material library file on hand?

Inventor came with some AISI materials so i assume this should be doable or perhaps even a program option.

HI!

"Steel S235" is the European standard name.

Inventor has the US standard names and the equivalent for this case is:

EU Standard:  S235

US Standard:  Steel ASTM A36

You can find it in Autodesk  Materials Library (Not in the Inventor Material Library by default).

Change the library to access the Autodesk materials (picture below), but I advise you to create your own company material library database with the familiar material's standard names.

You can add the materials along the time and it will not take you a lot of time.

It will take time and it is a issue, i have to somehow get technical data on both qualities and double check everything.

This is something i feel autodesk have slept on for years. having some of the most common AISI standards is nice, but the marked is bigger than US.  If  S235 really is ASTM A36 then surely they would have provided it too?

Autodesk clearly doesn't want to be in the business of investigating/providing/maintaining large standard material libraries which I think its a good choice by them. I'd rather that time go into feature development. You said yourself it takes time/requires double checking,etc...

They should put in a small few as "samples" that are very common/quick to toss in and make it easy for you to add/maintain your own company specific..

A German add-in developer has published a material and appearance library with lots of DIN ISO materials with proper designation. (Plus it has the full German RAL color palette for setting up realistic appearance of painted parts) Some annotations are in German but that only applies to some special materials. Here is the link: https://blog.nupis.de/ral-farbtabelle-in-autodesk-inventor/

I somehow managed to get the file without understanding a lick of German.

No i just need to figure out where to put the file or how to import from it.

You need to copy the file into the folder

C:\Users\Public\Documents\Autodesk\Inventor [VERSION]\Design Data\Materials\

or another folder you have specified in your project configuration.

After doing so, you need to activate the library in the project configuration.Unbenannt.png
