the changing of the properties from a solid color to a clear or transparent color is different from 2016 version to 2012 version as "clear" is not a property listed in the material drop down box. how do i change the property from a solid color to clear in version 2012?

and, Materials and Appearances have always been two different things.

Are you asking how to use the clear&.bmp type alpha masks?
