Hi there!

I´m hoping that someone in here can help me on my issue! I am working on a factory in the wood industry. My problem is that I want Inventor to make my parts occure in a color that is similar to the brown color of a MDF-board. That is instead of the usual grey color that the default color appear as from standard. Is there an easy way (or difficult) to change the default color on parts?

Hi!

You can change the Material, and/or appearance here:

If you want your part starts with the correct material/appearence you need, every time you open a new file:

Open a new part, change the material and/or appearance, and then "save the file as template"

Give it a suggestive name... ex:  MyTemplate... and that's it... every time you need a new file, select that template, it will already have the proper material/appearance.

Note:

Material: adds the physical properties to the model, it's nice to have the weight of the parts and assemblies. etc

Appearance: is just like if you painted the part.

If you don't have a material or appearance you like, you can always add a new one to Inventor.

Or, simply edit whatever template you currently use (Standard.ipt, perhaps?) and change the material and/or appearance there.  As @CCarreiras says, you can create your own or use something that already exists.
