I need a 25mm outside circlip for a project.  the ISO Content Center only goes as small as 30mm (2).

How do I extend the range?

Hi!

You can´t extend because all parts in Content Center are "Vendor standards" if the size don´t exist in Content Center, probably youre not able to buy it in anywhere.

So, you can't change a standard part within Content Center (or published in).

If you can´t find the piece with this diameter in ISO, try another library. You have it in DIN library.

This is not entirely true.  You can add to these families in the CC.  But, first you need to create a read/write library of your own, and copy the existing "standard" family to a new family. (Save Copy As).  Once you have your own custom family, it is simply a matter of editing the family table.  The tricky part is in figuring out what all of the table columns mean.  Kind of like reverse engineering someone else's CAD model, you don't always know how the thing was made.  Also, Carlos is right when he says that you may not be able to actually BUY this part, so you want to do your homework there as well.

How you create a read/write library depends on wether you use Desktop Content or Vault Content.

Thanks Carlos

You can actually buy circlips for a 3mm shaft at a mechanical engineering supplier no problem (http://www.circlips.com.au/contentblank.php?sec=products&sec2=circlips&sec3=d1400).

I appreciate that the DIN library lists them.  I was just thinking that ISO must have them somewhere.  It is unimaginable that ISO does not classify a 25mm external circlip.  The question is how to get it listed in my library.

I guess that is like haveing a folder full of brochures alongside your Purchasing Officer's Manual.  Smiley Happy

I'll get on to it.
