How do I add text to a decal?

I want to have a decal that I can add/alter text.  The only way I know how to do this is with emboss but that creates way to many surfaces.  I just need a decal that represents a customizable sticker.  Anyone know how to do this?

Hi @JBEDsol,

Decals deal with images so you would have to change the image to change the text, every other create tool wants to create a solid.
