As CCarreiras is saying ..they turned off a lot of the lines ... not sure why ..and why I said in my first post something isn't right.
personal I think a lot of these tutorials you're using are full of errors, or aren't fully explaining all of the steps required.
Is this one from your school or online?

Save your money in useless books, and one day, if you need to know real CAD to work in a real job, pay a course with a good instrutor. It's a lot better then all the books you can have. Copying some tutorial in the internet, is a lot different from the real world.
If you wanna learn now, make the models by your own brain, instead of copy all the good and bad examples you find, and when doubts arise, consult the Inventor help and try to do it by yourself.
You want a good ebook? Try inventor Help and study it to create your models.
