Hey all, when I am sketching on a surface, and draw a line on an already existing edge, selecting that line later is a real pain. It seems like Inventor prioritizes selecting the edge, not the line I've drawn. How can I fix this to make sketching easier? This has been such a frustrating issue I have been seriously doubting my choice to use Inventor. The picture I have attached shows the edge it keeps selecting (the red x) and the sketch line I want it to select (the green arrow).

One thing you can do in this situation, if you are only using the projected geometry as a reference for sketch constraints, is to change the projected lines to Construction.  That makes it much easier to select the new sketch geometry as opposed to the projected geometry.  Right mouse click on the projected line, and...

Thank you very much for your help. This allowed me to do what I needed to finish my assignment. I still need a cure for the issue, and this is a bit more of a band-aid. At this point, I'm starting to suspect a coding flaw, or some other nebulous software/hardware issue. Thanks again for your helpful post.

Chris' post is the quickest solution for this, but another way is to project just the corner point instead of the full edge, or use the origin if it's in the right place. Then you don't get the line you don't want. Keeps your sketches tidier as well.
