Help to correct constrain (hinge)

I need some help to make a simple hinge function on 2 parts I have.

I would like to make the function to work from the center of the whole in my video (please see attached video).

My video shows how I would like the hinge to work.

Hope it make sense - and thanks in advanced.

If the part is constrained to be edge flush at the end of the long structural part, then you should only need to constrain the center axis of the hole in order to allow for that rotational freedom without it running away. Since there's no other geometry to do a centerline constraint to, a quick way to do this would be to constrain between a flat surface and the centerline of the hole and provide it some offset that gets you the position you want.

I'm not sure exactly what your end result may look like but if there's a piece that's meant to mate with that, having that mating piece could be helpful in constructing the necessary constraints.

Hope this helps!

Attach assembly here.

What holds that part in the real world to define the Degrees of Freedom?

Hi @raskerami

Please see attached screencast for a solution to similar situation.

- Create a work axis using the hole.

- Ground it.

- Create a constriant to control position.

That was very helpful! Can you show me how to make an axis on the other part?

So I can make the big part without a whole to turn around like a hinge?

This is a way to do that:
