Having Problems Turning Complex Solid into Shell

Hi,

I am trying to turn the attached file into a shell in order to be able to save material while building it using 3D printer. Till now I did not manage to do it.

Can anyone help me achieve this? Preferably the thickness should be at least 5 mm. I would appreciate if you will show me the steps as I would be needing to do this for other complex shapes.

(the object was downloaded from another website)

Thanks a lot!

No easy task.

- No luck with Inventor

- No luck with Fusion360

Rhino showed an acceptable result with 2mm thickness. I didn't try 5mm.

See attached 2016 IPT. EOP needs to be pulled down again

Later: Meanwhile I tried 5 mm offset, too. Not all of the surface members were offset, but about 95%

Smiley Wink I've placed - hopefully not buried - an entry in IdeaStation.

Thanks for your reply. Indeed it is difficult as I didn't manage to do it in inventor.

I voted your post in the ideastation
