Hatching in drawing Inconsistent hatch angles

I spend too much time fixing hatch angles

Hatches should be relative to the part angle.

If I have a shape at 45 degrees and the hatch is plywood, then the hatch should be too.

It doesn’t even keep the set default angle.

What's the purpose of setting the default angle if it’s overridden?

and by some really on angles. Not in increments of 5,10 or 15 degrees,

Not 143.45678degrees wtf is that.

what drives the hatch angles

why are they so sporadic?

Your explanation is confused.

Can you upload some files, or an image about your issue?

ok, it was confusing. I updated the original post

Notice below every hatch is at a different angle. Why?

And why do the hatches shift? I often have to shift the hatch too.

This is such a mess I wish you could use a solid fill with screening.

Hi Kirk,

It is meant to differentiate components with the same material style. It can be controlled by a setting. In the drawing, go to Manage -> Styles Editor ->select the active standard -> General -> Preset Values -> "Section Hatch Angle" -> remove the unwanted values.

Many thanks!

Im old

learned the old-school way. Hand drafting. Changing angles on your hatches was forbidden.

All hatches are to be at a relative angle to the closed shape.

Hi!

Inventor will automatically apply a different hatch between neighbour parts.

This way, is easier to check the different parts in a section.

If you use an hatch equal for every part will be confusing to recognize different parts.

Tip:
Embrace changes e take advantage of them.

changes are fine, but when I submit shop drawings to an architect and the hatching is not consistent then that confuse the architect.  They don’t know what material is being used. The guys in the shop don’t know either.  Sub contractors on the project are also confused. It’s a big deal.

because of the rotation I can’t even create a legend.
Standards matter

the arbitrary hatch rotation defeats the purpose. Just use one hatch style if you are just using it to differentiate parts

I understand your point.

To help you (regarding identification), you have automatic part lists, and you can identify each part with the respective balloons.

The part list will have all types of information: Part number, material, weight, thickness, etc etc.

That's a great database of information. But I'm not sending that to clients architects and sub contractors.

I have a new shop Forman that wants my drawings easier to read. Dumbed down.

Then he wants cutlist bom.

A nice work around would to have the capability to select multiple  objects and change the hatch attributes.

A simple crossing select

Or from the bom part list.

You could place your suggestions at INVENTOR IDEAS forum and maybe this will be implemented in a future version.
