Groove cut on curved surfaces

Hello!

 

I have a trouble with making groove for metal sheet in my casting mould. I managed to draw a metal sheet so you can see how it will be placed. The problem is that metal sheet will be placed 2 mm deep into bottom, front and back wall. Front and back wall are curved. I do not know how to cut the surfaces and what tool I should use for it. Especially chalenging is cutting 2 mm groove at the bottom. In the picture below you can see the way how metal sheet will be placed.

You could use multi-body modeling, make the base as 1 solid, then sheet metal as another, and use cut operations to make the clearances and depths as needed. Then make components out of it to generate the actual assembly of the components. You can use the same sketch you used to make the sheet as a cutting sketch as well (shared sketch).

 

You could place the base into an assembly, then place in the sheet as needed, then edit the base in-context of the assembly, use the "Copy Object" Command and bring in the sheet as a surface to use as a cutting object...Just some thoughts.

I still don't know how should I make a cutting sketch so it will go 2 mm deep into the bottom. I attached file here so you can have a look at it.

Hi Joanna,

Here is a set of files in IV2020 format. Unzip them and make Assembly1.ipj a current project. Then have a look at the files.

Hello again, Joanna,

The previously sent files had some modelling errors in it. I have noticed it after I have uploaded files. Here is an updated set. It is about grooves on the vertical walls. I think they look better in this set. Please see the attached.
