Good laptop for IV 2022

Hi all,

I would like some recommendations on some laptops for IV 2022. It will be used predominantly for tube & pipe.

Thank you in advance!

Hi @CWC_Drawing_Office,

How many parts will your assemblies have?

In general for Inventor:

- Highest CPU Clockspeed available - usually around 5GHz.

- 16GB RAM Minimum (Higher part assemblies require more RAM)

- 4-8GB VRAM. GPU doesn't strictly matter as Inventor doesn't have significant GPU Acceleration.

The rest is all up to you, however, a bigger battery can be nice. Weight is the biggest compromise as more weight can meaning better cooling (and thus better performance) however it does mean it is less portable. Vice versa for lower weight.

I'd recommend checking out InvMark, which has an online leaderboard: https://invmark.cadac.com/#/

I've got:

Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-10750H CPU @ 2.60GHz 2.59 GHz

64.0 GB Ram

SSD of course

RTX4000 graphics chip.

Runs as well as my workstation did, but the fan gets really loud, especially in summer.

It also cost around £3k and suspect that was without VAT.

Also look at USB ports, I have to run mine through a dock because it only has 2 USBC ports and the graphics processing on the dock is dire. Also messes up my screen sharing in MS Teams.
