Friday Pictures?

Haven't seen any in a while though I haven't been on here as much lately either.

Here's a couple FIAT parts we're getting ready to release.  First is a Torque Strut (rendered in Showcase) and the 2nd is a WIP Upper Front Strut Mount replacement.

What are you guys/gals working on today?

Been working on this on/off for a while now.  This is a tool to weld automotive lens together.

Does working on a modern trebuchet count?

It's a LONG way from complete, but here's the arm assembly so far.

Specs:

   - 75" axle to hook tip

   - rope-over-cam counterweight attachment

   - 18" radius cam

   - 1000lb counterweight (24" x 24" x 1/4" steel plates in carrier rack)

A comparably sized trebuchet with the usual free-hanging counterweight should launch a 10lb... pumpkin... about 600ft downrange.  I'm hoping this new design can up that to about 750ft.  (900ft would be the theoretical range if 100% efficient.)

(What does one have to do to be able to post something larger than 5kb?!?)

Sounds sweet!
The site is messing up today. If you post it as an attachment instead of as an inline image it should work.

No.  No it doesn't.  Maybe I'll try again later.  {sigh}

Try it again, I think it's just been fixed.

Hey - I've done some stuff that looks like that too!

I have a buddy who owns a retail GC company and occasionally I help him "visualize" suggestions to clients.  Kind of fun and always makes the clients happy.

First pic is one of many options evaluated for tile layout in an entryway, second pic is a recommended change to the architects misunderstood vision of how to incorporate a linear diffuser into a complex ceiling construction.

Had to accept the "clarified" pig launcher graphic as the solution for this topic.  Well played, sir.

Hi all,

Just thought I would add a pic of a job I did a few years ago.

It's an pnumatic actuator for cooling the turbine case for a Areo engine.

Had to do a render for some internal document, so got to play with showcase a bit.

Decided to make a few images for this thread as well.

It's one of our small carried sprayers, kind of a shame i didn't have a version with proper hoses modelled in...

Mark - what did you use for the rendered top image?

Hi Gsmith9810,

It’s rendered with Max, plus lots (& lots) of post tweaking with photo editing.

Many thanks and kudos should go to the photoshop expert guru’s I used to work with.

The main tip I picked up from them is render oversized, post edit (insert black magic here Smiley Wink)

shrink/ downsize image.

Thanks

Mark

Thanks Mark! Your render looks great. I'm basically lazy when it comes to renders. If I can get useful out of the default, I will. I've been having trouble importing into Showcase but so far I have ALWAYS been able to get assemblies into Showcase by taking them through Navisworks first. One of the tasks that I perform here is taking the "beauty shots" of finished tools prior to shipping. As you note, the larger the initial image, the better and layers and layers of post-production. Over the years I have encountered my share of designers who use "clown colors" while modeling. I generally try to take a model back to what it will look like in "real life" for illustrations in the books I produce. They generally aren't photo-realistic, but cranking out a 9000 x 9000 render at 300dpi is usually going to work for publication.
