Happy Halloween everyone!

Hoping to see some nice Halloween themed pictures today, so i'm starting this off early.

I went a bit overboard with fog and volumetric light on my picture, which resulted in a render time of slightly over 8 hours(!!)

The Ambient occlusion render took another hour and 15 min, but i think it came out nice. (though the candy corn might have been a bit better...)

Anyway, pumpkins made with freeform tools in IV2016 and rendered in 3DS Max.

Enjoy the Halloween weekend!

Hi,

I had a go using your Pumkin step file. I could not find a pumkin swatch material so used an orage peel swatch I found.

Not really pleased with the finish, but I will post anyway.

Have a "Spooky Weekend"

Cheers

Mark

Looking at your picture in full resolution i can see why you're not that pleased, but it still looks pretty nice.
I've seen the cutout image before, but it's really typical halloween and fun.
I also recognize the stonewall hdri, good setting!

btw, @Frank-Oosterwaal is all of your image composed of 3d objects?

What software did you use?

Sorry, I forgot to tell how I made it.

Since I didn't have much time and it would also take some time to render I took models from previous projects and some free models and put them together in one scene.

So to answer your question, yes the entire scene is in 3d.

The Island, trees and houses are 3ds max models.

The rest are Inventor models.

The "Happy Halloween" slime is made with Realflow.

The entire scene is rendered in 3ds max.

Hi Neils,

Yes,the stone wall hdri and backplates were free off Tinternet

(don't know if I am allowed to say who), but google "stone wall hdri" the web site is first on the list ;o)

The pumkin decal also came from a google search (where would we all be without google - ha ha)

The material swatch for the orange peel was a low resolution image and i made a bump from it

by desaturating and tweeking levels. The scale of the bump depth was way to pronounced giving

an unrealisting look.

Saving the picture as a jpeg has also added noise artifacts, also the contrast seems different from

how the image looks on screen to the saved jpeg. I think i need to re-calibrate the colour of my monitor.

Cheers

Mark

Out in the office we had to dress up and costume as best we could for Halloween. Some of us brought sweats and treats and all the funds raised by selling them will be going to Macmillan Cancer Support.

I thought of getting an extra hand for my drawings but I couldn’t afford it and so I only got a little red nail finger.

Just a very short video on this Halloween theme challenge:

(N.B. Use the HD button in your browser to view it)

With photos taken in my garden, all was done in Inventor & Studio - except for thunder bolts and lasers...

(for video editing and special effects I've used Sony Vegas Pro 13 and HitFilm 3 Pro)

- Thanks for the pumpkin Niels -

Have a good Halloween weekend!

More student work.

I tried to get them to do "flubbed" distances to keep everything larger in the screen images, but some wanted to go for long shot.

Very cool!

Btw JD, you always say "student work" which made me wonder... do your students know you're showing their work here?
Also, are these "free" assignments or do you build a class around them?

Yes, I tell them I am displaying their work. They like to see who gets the most kudos.

I tell them, "If you copied it from GrabCAD or somewhere else, let me know before I post it on the net - so I can go ahead and fail you from the class now."

In addition to learning the necessary joints, we vary the weight in the basket and of the Pumpkin and create User Variables to track max height and max distance in specific units (ft or yds here in the states).

Next class we will look at finding the Unknown Force to push down the launcher with various loads in the basket.

We have built these in the past - and gone out the lawn and tested.  I have a busy weekend, and not sure if we will get to do that this year, but if we do, I will post videos.

Lol, shame the pumpkins don't explode...
Must be fun to build and test these for real, hope you get to do so.
(Hate to be the gardener that has to clean the lawn though 😄 )

Sorry for the late post, but I got called out of town for a funeral and never got the chance to post before leaving.

Anyway, a belated Happy Halloween to all.
