Freefrom to a solid

Hello,

How do I make a solid face converted into a freeform and altered into the desire shape a solid? It's a surface right now and won't keeps its new shape as a solid. I attached an example.

New solid can be done by deleting some original faces, and stitching the new ones.

But the new shape looks not the very best ..
