Frame Generator parts move freely inside assembly when adaptative

Inventor 2019

I created a frame generator structure in assembly1. I placed assembly1 inside assembly2 and completely mated it. While inside assembly2, I edited a part of my assembly1 frame generators structure and projected two holes from another part inside assembly2. After projecting the holes, assembly1 became adaptative. At that point, I can, for whatever reason, click and drag a part of my frame while inside assembly2 and the entire thing breaks and moves around freely. Parts seems to be half mated together and somehow moves together. When I open assembly1, all the parts are missplaced the way they were while inside assembly2, but I can't move them at all, as if the frame is fully mated like it should be. There are no update icon available (yellow lightning) and Rebuild All doesn't do a single thing.

At that point I can Undo until it is back together. I had to remove adaptativity for the frame inside assembly1 to stop moving if I dragged it around.

Anyone know what is causing this faulty behavior? My understanding is that everything should be fixed.... just like any other sub-assembly when you make them adaptative.

I have seen this before, I would definitely get rid of the adaptivity.  I know it's nice for holes moving in assembled parts, but it usually creates more issues than what it's worth, especially with frame generator.

Sounds like possibly your part file that contains the control sketch isn't properly grounded.

I have never had any problems with adaptive features with regular assemblies/sub-assemblies. This is proper to frame generator, as if making it adaptive temporarily removes the "grounded" property of the frame generator parts while inside the adaptive assembly. If this is a "feature", than it is just one more thing that makes working with frame generator annoying...

Is it a single F-G item that's moving, or all the F-G items moving as a single unit?

I can assure you everything is properly grounded/constrained.

If I open the frame generator assembly itself, nothing moves and every part if "grounded". The assembly that contains the frame generator and the part with the sketch skeleton are both constrained and have the "no symbol" when trying to move either. When not adaptive, the sub-assembly is also fully constrained in the assembly and cannot be moved. But, if I make the sub-assembly and the frame generator adaptive, I can move the parts around, only while inside the assembly.

some parts don't move at all, and the rest moves together

Odd, can you post a ScreenCast showing this. Also check that you are on the latest SP/Hotfixes/Patches on your version of Inventor.

The parts may be grounded in the frame/sub assembly...but are they in your top level assembly? I have this issue frequently with frame assemblies.

Master assembly

-sub assembly 1

-sub assembly 2

If I open 1 or 2, all parts within are grounded and don't move. However in the master assembly if I don't have them grounded in there as well, once adaptive anything goes. Sometimes nothing ever happens. Sometimes I go to constrain an arbitrary item to one of the frames and it pulls the frame apart.

But if both sub assemblies are grounded within the master as well nothing goes anywhere.
