Flat pattern misaligned when using Part Mark before creating flat pattern

Hi folks,

I ran into a strange issue when using Mark on sheet metal parts before creating the flat pattern.

If the marking is created before generating the flat pattern, the result is misaligned with the UCS.

If the marking is created after the flat pattern, everything works normally and the flat pattern is properly UCS aligned.

What’s even more interesting:
If the marking is created before the flat pattern and causes the misalignment, simply suppressing the Mark feature, reopening the flat pattern, then unsuppressing it fixes the issue. The flat pattern stays correctly aligned afterward.

This issue is fully reproducible.

I’ve attached two example files:

-EX-D: flat pattern misaligned

-EX-A: similar part after suppressing/unsuppressing the Mark feature (correct alignment)

Looks like you are using 2025 with no updates.

2025 (Build 290162010, 162A)

Testing in 2027 it does not seem to happen.
Try patching your 2025 first.

@BDCollett has right. In newer versions, I can create correct flat patterns for geometry containing mark.

I'm currently working on 2026.2 (Build 298).
I'll try updating it to see if it resolves the issue.

Good to know this doesn't happen in 2027.

I'm currently on Inventor 2026.2 (Build 298), which should already be up to date on my side.

I'll still double-check for any additional updates or hotfixes.

That being said, if this behavior is confirmed fixed in 2027, it would be good to have a fix or hotfix available for 2026 as well, rather than relying on a version upgrade.

Hi @lauri_barnhart

From what I’ve found so far, there are no updates available for 2026.2 that address this behavior.
Unless I move to Inventor 2027, it looks like the issue will remain.

@j.hamelin it is related to the edge used for direction alignment in flat pattern definition. User could always specify the edge for direction alignment in flat pattern, and however mark feature is done before or after flat pattern creation. Hope it helpful you. Thanks!
