Flat Pattern dome for DXF File

Does anyone know a good way that you can create a dxf file that would only show the hole cutouts but not the outside diameter of the dome. I know we can save as copy dxf and modify the dxf but we use vault to export dxf flat patterns and would like to make this an automated process.2024_12_31_09_27_51_Autodesk_Inventor_Professional_2025.png

Hi

You can use the Unwrap tool, then create a sketch and project only the edges you care about. The sketch can be exported to DXF.

@KWarrenCA , another workflow to try is using something like this. You might need to incorporate Model States or use a multibody sheet metal part, to be able to have both the formed and flat solid, but the DXF part of this would something along these lines.

Hope that helps,

Open the DXF in AutoCAD and note the outer layer is turned off.
