As Adobe announced, Flash player support will be dismissed end of 2020/beginning of 2021

I noted in another post this morning that if you use the online version of help it appears to not display the link to the videos.

Local or downloaded help files will show a link to the videos but as you have discovered they no longer work.

Nobody has replied yet to my post of what I've found, hoping an A'desker posts a reply with what to do.

Videos in the online help have been converted to mp4 format from the unsupported flash..

Use the online help.

@Anonymous  Looks like Autodesk missed at least one when they changed over.. That page also has a link to Whats new in 2018..

@jeanie.wayker  Not sure if you are still part of this or can pass this along to the right staff to get this corrected..

@jeanie.wayker  There are quite a few pages with Flash videos still out there in 2021 Help (maybe my assumption that those were supposed to be converted/removed in 2021 is incorrect)..

A quick google search for "Show Me How" site: help.autodesk.com/view/INVNTOR/2021/  yielded quite a few Flash Videos still out there..

@mcgyvr Hi, thank you for reporting this issue and providing the extra details. I was moved off of Inventor a few months ago. I've notified Bill Bogan who handles this area, and he will be responding to you soon.

FWIW: I'm retiring on April 30! It's been a great pleasure to work with you. Thank you for being such an amazing customer. All the best to you!!!

Thank you again,

Jeanie Wayker

Hi mcgyvr,

Sorry about the delay in replying, I've been fighting equipment issues. Had to reimage the laptop, reinstall a bunch of stuff, etc. - you don't want to hear about that.

SWF Files in Inventor Help

Action: All flash-based video content was removed from the help files effective with Inventor 2022.

Cause: Flash is no longer supported by browsers effective Dec2020.

Decision: The following factors were considered in making the decision is to remove flashed-based (.SWF) videos:

   1) Content: not up to date, when shown the UI very out of date, in some cases workflow may be different, has been stale (unrevised) for many releases.

   2) Page analytics: low counts for page hits/visits.

   3) Page feedback: there has been no feedback about the out-of-date content or about the high value of the content to current workflows.

   4) Resource: It would take significant resources to replace and maintain the 140+ videos. Each video needs to be assessed for accuracy, current workflows, UI consistency, and replacement value.

   5) Prior release versions: Should the videos be removed from 2021, 2020, & 2019 Help? Based on item 4, the decision was made to not revise legacy content in order to remove the videos.

   6) Show Me videos that are not SWF based: Keep as is.

I hope this sheds some light on the rationale for the decision to remove and not edit the older Help content.
