might sound simple but how do i make a fillet?  i have to parts,a rod and a flange that i made into an assembly.  i now made a new part by deriving that assembly.  the derived part will be the drawing of those two parts "friction welded" together.  after being friction welded there will be what looks a weld.  it's actually not weld since now the two parts have become one solid part.  the metal that "oozed" out will have to be machined off.  i have made a revolve cut to remove some material on the rod now i need to add a fillet between the "two parts" that are now one.

im sure it's simple i just dont know how to do it.

If you are looking to make a fillet weld, you will need to convert your assembly into a weldment.

The fillet command should be in your 3d modeling toolbar.

I have converted many assemblies into weldments. What I don't know and never thought about until now, when you turn an assembly into a weldment does it consider, turn it into basically one part? I'll give it a try and see.

No, It is still an assembly regardless.

It just enables you to place actual fillet welds.

Attach your derived part here (or a dummy that exhibits the same behavior) and end all doubt.

When you Derived - did you set it to single body?
