Fillet Weld Curved Profile

Good Morning,

I am trying to fillet weld a tube and a connector/plate (see below). When using the weld command, a weld is created

between the plate and the tube segment directly in contact with it (3rd picture).

However, that is not what I need. Pictures 1 &2 show what I am trying to accomplish.

Does anyone know how to do this?

Please find attached .iam and .ipt files.

Thank you.

Regards,

Blandb,

That is what I am looking for, but it is not an all-around weld.

You could mess with splitting the faces of the curved bar to not get an all around weld. Then you can utilize the groove weld again, but just on the outer faces leaving a gap. I don't think you could accomplish this with just a fillet weld. Could just use the cosmetic weld to call out what you want.

Blandb,

I followed your suggestion and split the section of the bar touching the plate.

Here is what I did:

1. Add axis to curved bar for weld fill direction (As you mentioned, the fillet command does not work).

2. Split the tube section in contact with the plate.

3. Create a sketch on the plate face touching the tube and split it (so the weld bead has the  required length).

4. Insert groove weld.

Thank you for all you help.
