I'd like to report a bug that I've been experiencing using Inventor Pro 2021 (current updates installed).
I am in the process of going through a list of assemblies to repair broken constraints due to some design changes as well as updating with some current components. Some of these assemblies have not been checked out of Vault for 5 yrs plus.
I put the necessary assemblies into Quick-Change and check out from Vault. Next, I update all the assemblies. Last, I check out the drawings to refresh everything. As I click through the drawings in the drawing set, occasionally I get a sheet that refuses to load. I then get an error as shown in the image below. (Cannot be found). "Retry" does nothing. If I select "Cancel", I get the message recorded in the image (Set Active Sheet Instance." In this instance the file that can't be found is an assembly that is currently checked out and open on my local. All the other sheets in the drawing set open correctly.
The only way I've found to resolve the issue is to close all open Inventor files, restart Inventor, then open the .dwg file. With what I'm doing now, I have been getting this error when working with the drawing set.
In the past, I know I get a similar error when I'm working on an assembly. I might have an assembly checked out and and am working on it when I realize I need to make a change on a part. Typically, I go to Vault, change the state and open the .ipt in the Vault environment. Vault will show the .ipt is checked out but the file will refuse to open in Inventor, even though the part is active in an assembly that is already open on my local. I have not taken the time to screen snip those errors but its the same kind of glitch. To continue, I close everything off, restart Inventor, then open the problem .ipt first, and all will be well.
My colleagues report similar errors.
Wondering if there is something we are doing wrong or if Inventor is hiccupping on us.
Congratulations if you have read all the way to the bottom of this post! You are a real champ.
