Feature folders in Part model tree

Hi

I've seen a lot of old posts but no new ones addressing this problem, how am I supposed to create folders to place features in.

I would like to place support features (planes etc in one folder), location features (UCS with matching planes, material directions etc) in one folder so that the receiver of the model wont have to scroll through the tree to find the features for locating the part in an assembly.

Even though the current work task is rather quick and dirty it is important for the receiver to be able to locate important information easily.

How do I do, or is it still not possible to do this in the model tree of a part?

Hi,
is the feature "group part features into a folder, on a part level" on the way?  I really miss this feature, coming from both SolidWorks and PTC Creo.

The quick and easy answer is that this would be totally illogical in a parametric history-based modeler.  Features are built on each other in the exact order shown in the browser, so how would rearranging them into folders work without messing up your model?

But I could imagine a different browser view that showed features grouped in some way meaningful to the user.  But making changes in such a view would be dangerous because you couldn't see where the feature is in the history of the part, so you won't know what kinds of collateral damage you would be inflicting.

Anyone who's using a parametric history-based modeler and is at the point where they're asking for feature grouping in the model tree, isn't going to accidentally (or wrongly) rearrange the order of folders/groups or the features themselves. So there's literally no messing up of models unless it's a beginner who's only learning.
I would say take a look at SWX, but even Fusion 360 has this.

It's really sad when a significant portion of the user community asks for {what seems like} a very easy feature to be implemented in the software interface, for years, and the Autodesk devs (along with pro users and long term INV customers) seem to just be oblivious to the benefits/drawbacks of those suggested UX/UI features.

In lieu of folders within the part feature tree, maybe the chance to simply place a bold-type bookmark would be helpful.  We use mass modeling techniques for some pretty complicated assemblies.  Tracking the various solid bodies and the ensuing modifications to them can be difficult at times.  I currently break my order of modeling up by placing a new plane and using that as a bookmark.  To edit earlier work, I only need to move the EOP to ensure that all edits (new features like cuts or holes) to any body is located in relation to the original feature.  It would be even easier if we were able to place a simple bookmark within the tree to aid in this process.

Eight years later and still no possibility to create folders in parts. Pretty poor response indeed...

Hi SBix26,

I came here looking for the ability to make folders in a part file (Skeletal modeling) as well. In this example, I'm creating the elevation and grid line (not shown) work planes. I don't want to have to scroll through them all the time, so a folder would be great to have them in to reduce clutter.

Please sign up to feedback.autodesk.com if you want to advise the product team on this as I believe they were talking about it at some point, but I don't know what stage they are at with doing such a thing.
