FEA-constraints for bending stress on axle

Hi, I want to constrain like the setup in the picture.  A force is applied to the center of the axle.  Any help appreciated, I just can't get it right, why does it have to be so complicated...

The simply supported shaft is an idealization that makes the math simple.  You will need to adjust your idealizations to match the limits of the FEA code.

 

The Inventor FEA tool can only select surfaces, edges, or vertexes for constraints or loads.  You will have to make special features in your model that the FEA tools can select.  

 

In my example, I

 

  • Used the split tool to create small surface regions for the constraints and the loads
  • Used a fixed constraint at one end
  • Used a frictionless, or a fixed zero-displacement constraint in the y-direction at the other
  • Applied the load to an area at the center of the shaft.

Does this come closer to your hand calc?

It definately looks better than what I was able to achieve.  The Axle is supported by bearings that allow the axle to bend from the load, how would you go about to better simulate this?  The load should be distributed equally across both "ends".
Did you understand what I mean?
