Extrusion pattern on curved surface

Hi,

has anyone an idea how I can structure my surface with the pattern shown in the picture?

I want it also on the curved surfaces. And here is my problem.

The pattern was created by using extrusion.

Have you tried using project to surface?

This is done by having your pattern you want offset from the face you want to project onto and then creating a 3D Sketch and using project to surface command.

I've seen it done where you can cut normal to a face. The pattern was in the 2D sketch and then in the cut/extrusion there was a selection to cut normal which brought it around the curve and to all the faces.I have only done it once myself and that was a while ago, so I do not remember enough to give much more detail, but hopefully this will at least give you enough info to look into that as an option.

Hi frey_maximilian,

Are you looking for something like this?

Emboss.png

This is using two Emboss features – one for the planar face and one for the blend face.  The Inventor 2019 ipt is attached.

Hope that helps!

This is AMAZING!  Thanks SO MUCH for posting this!  I didnt know you could turn a single sketch into multiple, connected-embossings across a curved-surface immediately adjacent to a flat-surface! 😁
