Extruding from one sketch to another one

Hi,

I would like to extrude from one sketch to another one which is a scaled version of the first sketch. I cannot find an option to do this task automatically.

Take a look at "Loft"

I tried to do it with loft but it doesn't accept the sketch as a section. When is in this format, all the options of loft are inactive.

Can you attach the part?

I don't know why it doesn't let me to attach .ipt file. I had to zip it.

See this workflow.

It's true that Loft won't allow you to make it in one feature. You can not do "enclosed features" within enclosed features.

So first you make the pyramid - And then you make one of the holes - And then you pattern it around.

@Xun.Zhang- Is it intentional that you cannot attach .ipt files anymore?

Thank you for your reply. However, the initial problem I was trying to solve consists of more holes and in the pyramid the holes are not identical. that's why I was trying to do it all at once.

Oh. Unfortunately, that means you'll have to do five lofts. One of the main feature, and one of each hole.

From the programming side, I understand why it works like that.

If you could make all four holes in one feature, you would need a way to define which sketch "goes to" which sketch.

I suspect that your problem is even more difficult.

If you did a loft from any one of those circles to corresponding circle the result will not be circular profile.

Therefore if circular profile is the design intent (I am thinking tubes) you will need sacrificial cylinders to control end tangency and/or guide curves.

I did a problem like this years ago.  It is not impossible, but it is a bit tedious.

Hi! Loft creates under-defined geometry (cannot be dimensioned). It should not be a primary tool for mechanical design. It is powerful for sure but it should not be the first tool to use.

For this particular case, I can easily create the precise geometry using one Guide Rail Sweep (see attached part). The forum for whatever reason blocks posting ipt, iam, idw attachment. They need to be zipped before they can be attached. The forum team is aware of the issue and they are working closely with the vendor to address the problem.

Many thanks!

Sorry for late.

Not sure if blocking ipt file uploading was on purpose or not, will check with community admin to understand more.
