Extract Base part until certain place in hierarchy and derive

Hi, I am looking for a feature that I expect should exist but can't find. I have a part with a few features and now would like to extract the first 5 features or so into their own part and make the current file a derived part from that new part. So for example, I would like to split this part between the extrusion and the Wrap Draft because I need to insert some features which I want to be replaceable.

Is there a feature like that in Inventor? Or do I need to recreate all the features?😱

Hi! I don't think Inventor supports the exact workflow. I believe you will need to save the part as a new part -> move EOP up until where you want to stop -> derive the part into another part and add the rest of the features.

Many thanks!

Hi

I think Save As Copy might help in your case. Then remove the unwanted features and leave the ones you need. However, it will not be a derivative, but a similar part.

Alternatively, you can use model states to suppress individual features in selected states and thus create different combinations in one file.
