I, not long back, got a Windows 11 laptop brand new for a future career in AutoCAD/drafting & designing, thanks to college. Because of this, I instantly used an education license that my teacher helped me obtain, all to claim access to AutoCAD, Inventor, and Revit. That being said, over time I noticed a strange error with interacting alongside zip files, where a blank error box would pop up, only containing the exclamation-mark yellow-pyramid symbol, alongside no dialog inside, aside from just saying "error" with an "okay" button and the X at the top right of the window itself.
Now, why am I talking about this, here in the forums for Inventor itself?
It is because of what I had to do, to solve the error with zip files. I had found a forum post on Microsoft's website here, and the guy had talked about very few programs he installed before the error kicked up... One of the programs he mentioned, though, was AutoDesk programs. So, I took the highest rated solution on the post, to utilize the freeware program called ShellEXView to fix my issue. It was suggested, because it allows you to turn on and off the likes of various "shell extensions" on Windows itself, even the ones that came installed on the OS itself. So, I took the advice of the post itself, and I went through the third-party shell extensions, disabling and re-enabling them one-by-one, and restarting each time I did so.
I eventually found the exact extension that was doing this error, the extension with the name of "Autodesk Inventor Part". I have a screenshot of the extension details attached, as this I believe was important to share here. Whether AutoDesk themselves actually fixes this issue or not, this should be known by the community AT LEAST! However, while I couldn't directly ask them to give me support, I pray this post can bring them to give us support on such a strange error messing with Windows 11.
To all who are dealing with this issue as well, if you especially happen to be on another Windows OS altogether, like Windows 10 perhaps, please do share your personal experience, so this can be taken note of for everyone who's using Inventor and dealing with this error. Simple zip files shouldn't be this strange to deal with for anyone, after all...

Maybe I missed it but what version of Inventor are you using?
It might be a stretch to say this but this is the first I've heard of any Autodesk software having issues with zip files but then again I am not sure I am understanding your issue 100%.

I have the current version, I keep it all up to date, especially with my new laptop being capable of handling all the current versions no problem; hence why I thought it was important to bring this up here for everyone to know about this issue.

2025?
Isn't 2024 the current version? Why would they have 2025 already out, before 2024 is over??

After I started Inventor for the first time, the error on my computer disappeared.

Why do automobile manufacturers start selling next year models before the current year is half over? My 2017 model car was built in June 2016...
It may have something to do with fiscal year timing, or it may simply be a marketing decision. Autodesk routinely releases new versions in late March or early April for many of their products. I guess they want to appear early instead of late?
The current version of Inventor is v29.0, which is Inventor 2025 RTM (Released to Manufacturing?, meaning without updates).

Like someone else mentioned cars which seems to usually hit the scene fall/winter before the year they are labeled as such.
For Inventor, every late winter/early spring is when the new versions come out. Don't bother asking any time as to when the next version will be out because those in the know cannot legally say so. Ask me how I know 😉 hehe
ALL SOLID MODELING SOFTWARE IS NOT BACKWARDS COMPATIBLE. (sorry for yelling, it's the lack of nicotine in my system)
Indicating what version an issue is with helps others help you is all we're getting at.
TIA

Thanks I had been using Fusion 360 for school and had not opened inventor yet since installing on my new laptop. I was getting the same error box after I removed One Drive completely from my PC so I thought it was related to that but once I opened Inventor the error went away.

Hi! This is a known issue in Inventor, INVGEN-79483. It has been fixed internally on a build targeting coming updates to 2024 and 2023. It is already included in 2025.1 update. If you are on 2025, please install the update.
Many thanks!

Hi! I am sorry I gave the wrong information. I just check the status of INVGEN-79483. It shows that it is indeed fixed in our internal builds targeting 2023.6, 2024.4, and 2025.2. None of the already released updates have the fix yet.
Many thanks!
