Extension Sprin DA bug?

Hi there,

i have been facing some issues with the DA for extension springs. Given a model spring I have found that bellow some installed length the hooks of the spring disappear and the sketch doctor cross lightens. For example, given the following parameters:

-- Calculation: model1.pngmodel2.pngmodel1_wrong.pngresult.png

The hook for the 40 mm installed length spring lacks the hooks. The only difference is the installed length, as can be seen in the images. Is this some kind of bug? Inspecting the generated .IPT, I can see that there is a bunch of failed sketches etc. but is pretty difficult to see what is going on.

Any ideas? Has someone found this issue earlier?

Best regards,

DVB

Hi DVB,

The problem has been fixed in Inventor 2018. The sick part can't be created anymore since the calculation shows the inputs are invalid.

It has been some time. Thanks for the update.

I finally modeled the spring by hand, it was for aesthetic purposes.

However, if I recall correctly the data used for the input was actually taken from a manufacturer specifications of the spring I was trying to model. Not all parameters were available so I guess I might have calculated some of them wrong, cant remember now.
