Export step file from assembly with duplicate surfaces removed

I'm using a third party meshing program on step files I create by exporting geometry I have built in Inventor.  In order for the mesh to work properly, all common surface or faces at interfaces between parts have to be boolean deleted to leave only one surface at the interface, while still maintaining two separate bodies.  So far I have been performing this operation within the meshing environment, but this is limited and slow.

Is there a way to do this within Inventor prior to exporting?  I've been looking at some of the Derive and Delete faces commands, but I can't quite seem to get the results I'm looking for.

I'd really appreciate any suggestions on how to do this.

Thanks!

Nigel

Derive Component should do this for you (don’t need to Delete Face).

Can you Attach an example Assembly here?

Hi, here's the file I'm working with.  I made an assembly of parts, then used the assembly do do a derived  cut in an "air" part which I then re-assembled back onto the other parts.  Ultimately I'd like to export this top level assembly with the "air" and the contained parts as a step file with only one unique surface at each interface between the air and each part.  I'd love to know how to do this with a derive.

Thanks!
