Export IDW to Autocad DWG weird scale

Hello everyone,
i found a serious problem exporting from Inventor IDW to Autocad DWG:
The exported DWG file has the correct dimensions, but the geometry has been scaled! Even though i chose the correct option when exporting.
Apparently Autodesk is aware of this (https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/inventor/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Expor...).

The problem is related to the scale of the view in inventor which presents decimals (in my case 1: 8). So, I can't use custom scales otherwise the export generates incorrect files?
Exporting to DWG is required for sheet metal cutting, so you risk creating wrong pieces.

I use Inventor 2021 with last service pack and update.

I attach one video where see the problem.

Best regards.

Bruno Milano.

Have you tried just exporting from your ipt file instead?

Hello mcgyvr,

if export from ipt file, dwg is correct.

I export from idw because add more information (dimension, note etc).

Thank you.

I discovered this issue about 5 years ago.

Are you dragging the corners of the view to end up with the scale? I found that if you did that sometimes it came out wrong, but if I typed in exactly the same ratio and press enter it would then work.

Hi jameswillo,

Best regards.

Hi Bruno,

in that way you can only scale all in AutoCAD with scale with reference

Yes,
I could rescaling in autocad.
But not all views have the same problem and I should check all files that are exported.
I do not think it is the correct way, in fact with a scale of 1:10 or scales without decimals there are no problems.
Export in dwg is used to send directly to production.

Thank you.

Hi everyone,

i send files to Autodesk Support, and give me a solution.

In to the idw is present one view (first view) out the sheet witch scale 1:10.

All others view in the sheet have scale 1:8.

If set 1:8 scale also first view (out the sheet) or delete this view, dwg exported is correctly.

But, i don't understand why rescaling dwg in case two different scale in the idw.

Best regards and thank you everyone for help.

Because as shown in the drop down in reply 6 your export will be set to 'base view.'

View 1 is the base view and so that will be 1:1 and everything else will be scaled to look right on the page but not be 1:1.
