Export Exploded and Ballooned Drawing View as PNG with Transparent Background

All,

Good evening!  I've recently had someone ask me if it was possible to export an exploded and ballooned drawing view as a PNG file with a transparent background.  They would like to be able to place this on another document and not bring along any of the sheet information.  Please see the screencast below for a visual description of the issue.  I couldn't seem to find a way to do this, but am hoping that I've overlooked something simple.  Thanks in advance for any assistance and have a most blessed night!

Peace,

Pete

Hello @petestrycharske,

Unfortunately, drawing view is not support transparent image export yet.

Two workarounds -

1. Export PNG with a pure color for background and then leverage Photoshop or photoshop likewise application to remove the background.

2. Direct make annotation/balloon in ipn and export transparent PNG from presentation.

Hope it helps!

@Xun.Zhang thanks for the feedback.  I was not aware that one could apply balloons to the IPN environment.  Can you please send me some information on how that is accomplished, as I couldn't find those tools on the ribbon?  Thanks again for reaching out and have a most blessed night!

Peace,

Pete

Hi Pete,

Sorry, still have to add annotation after export to PNG in 3rd application like Paint.

With the API, there may be a way to directly export a drawing to .png with alpha channel. Without the API, you can get a .png with alpha channel (transparent background) with the following steps:

  1. Export the drawing to .pdf
  2. Open the .pdf with appropriate software (I use Inkscape) and export to .png

I created a screencast showing the steps: https://autode.sk/2XTlO3T
