I am trying to create an exploded view for the first time in Inventor.
In trying to follow these directions from the help file.
First I had to customize my ribbon to add these commands because I cannot find the "Presentations" tab.
Next when I inserted these commands into a user commands portion, they were greyed out. I am trying to do this in assembly mode. I assume that is where it should be done.
What am I missing?
Thanks
Scott

I believe you need to first create a Presentation file (.ipn) from your assy, then you would see the tools you are looking for.

Ok, I get that, but how do you create a presentation file?
Not as simple as a file save as because I tried that.
Also can I have a view of this presentation file along with the assembly model represented in one drawing?
To create a Presentation file...
Start a New file and choose an IPN file type (not IPT or IAM)
Then you can use the Create View command to link your IAM into the IPN. You can also choose which Design Views you want and if you want them to be associtative to the IAM or not.
You can absolutely put the Exploded View and the normal Assembly view in the same print.
The Presenation files are used probably about 80% or more of the time for simple explosions for prints, but are also used for quick animations for technical presentations, training, or review meetings. If you do save an animation out, use the AVI codec and not WMV.
