Error "Attempted an unsupported operation"

Hello! When attempting to switch to the "Display" tab in the application options, a pop-up window appears with the message "Attempt to perform an unsupported operation." This error occurs only when trying to access this specific tab or when making and saving any changes within it. The system is running Windows 11 24H2. Reinstalling the application and even Windows did not resolve the issue. 

I had been using the app for almost a year without any issues. However, after performing a system restore without deleting files, it seems the Windows version changed from 23H2 to 24H2. It was only after reinstalling Inventor that I encountered this error. Following this, I performed a clean installation of Windows.

P.S. I also forgot to mention that attempting to use the "Flange" command causes the program to crash unexpectedly. Could this all be related to the new Windows version?

Hi Helge,

The information you provided so far isn't actionable. What Inventor release are you on? Are you running any non-Autodesk Add-In? If yes, please unload them and retry. When Inventor crashed, did you send in the crash report? Please send me an email ([email protected]). I would like to take a look at the report to understand the crash better.

Hi! I am not sure if this is related to an old thread. Please take a look at the last reply to the thread. It seems to be related to Windows User Profile.

After previous link I looked into my app list. And I have no Inventor there.

few moments later...

Go to Autodesk install product page. 

Choose your version.

click install and accept. 

start Installer

in my case it was 2025.3
