Error opening new parts/assemblies

Below is a screenshot of what happens when I do ctrl+n to try and open a new document. The symbols are missing and if I click where they are supposed to be then nothing happens. When I click file in the top left and then click new it does the same thing. The only way I can actually open a new document is to click on file, hover over new and wait for the pop up menu thing to come up with my options of part, assembly, or drawing. I don't do weldments so it doesn't matter but I couldn't if I wanted to as that's not of of the options available without opening the broken menu. It has been like this for a long time and for a while all I used was inventor but now that we have solidworks as well it is my muscle memory to just do ctrl+n, which when I do that I have to exit that broken menu and then go back and do it the other way. Gets old after a while.

The IT department controls all of the updates but when I started we were using IV 2022 and a couple months ago we "upgraded" to IV 2023 and the issue persists so I don't know that it could be an updating issue. Any suggestions are welcome.

Expand the folder "en-us" and keep expanding until you find the folder containing the templates you need.

Personally, I set the template location using the Project file.  If you do that, then you can have IT install updates - all you do is launch Inventor, join the Project, and away you go.

@pcrawley wow I am dumb. I've never messed with what I would consider to be "templates" so it never occurred to me to look through that. Thanks.
