Error on startup after install of R11

I've installed Inventor R11 on a WIN2000 server. The install went fine. When I start Inventor, I get a dialog box that says:
The procedure entry point DdEntry1 could not be located in the dynamic link library GDI32.dll.
I get this message after the installation of the unpatched original R11 and after the installation of SP1 & SP2.
Just to make sure it wasn't a corrupted file, I have also replace the GDI32.dll with one off a machine with an Inventor that works.

Any ideas?

Steve

Steve,
You may need to install Direct3D component on your machine.
Locate "DXSETUP.exe" in our product media (DVD/CD) under
acadfeui\Inventor\support\DirectX folder and run it with an admin account.
Hope this helps,

I think that you will find that Win2000 Server is not on the list of
supported operating systems for IV11, Vault5 is support on Win2000 Server,
but not IV11.

Thanks, Blair. I heard you the first time but this was important to get working so I contacted AutoDesk support and here is what they had to say:
"Inventor 11 is supported on Windows 2000 but it does require SP4."
Apparently, they do not differentiate so much between Win2K and Win2K server.

Unfortunately, my system already had SP4. After some searching, here is what I found and what I did to fix it. Inventor 11 works fine now on Windows 2000 Server.
I hope this helps someone else.

It turns out, it is not GDI32.dll, it is a dll that calls it. The culprit is d3d8thk.dll, on the DirectX 9.0 redistribution. There are two of these files, d3d8thk.dll and d3d8thk.w2k.Replace your current copy of this file with the d3d8thk.w2k version, changing the .w2k to .dll.

If you can't find the d3d8thk.w2k file on your system, look in the dxnt.cabfile in DirectX distribution on the Inventor media. I extracted it and replaced the existing one. You may have to do it in winnt\system and winnt\system32.

Cheers.

Glad ADSK got you going, most server OS's stay in the backroom.
