Hi! The error indicates the file is corrupted. Could you share an example here? Have you tried finding out the prior saved version in \OldVersions\ folder?

Many thanks!

Hi Johnson,

My customer has the same error. This error happened maybe 5-10x in the Inventor 2020 (now 2020.2). Recovering a file from the OldVersions folder has helped us to solve the problem, but it happened several times and it is very annoying (for .idw files only).

I looked at similar forums (https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/inventor-forum/error-loading-segment/td-p/8875743) and I found the necessary answers:

1) Are you able to reproduce it? NO

2) What was the last operation you did? EXPORT TO .pdf FILE AND SAVE .idw

3) How do you store the file? On local drive? On shared network drive? Or cloud drive? Do you use an EDM system like Vault? HE USING SHARED NETWORK DRIVE

4) Do you have encryption tool running? NOT SURE - PROBABLY NOT

5) Does anybody else have access to the file? YES - MAYBE 30 PEOPLES.

I can also send you the broken file to email.

Thank you.

Hi Milan,

I strongly suggest they should look into a PDM system like Vault helping them manage the files. Dumping all Inventor files in a shared folder allowing access to multiple users is a bad practice. This is because, you never know who edit and save the file when. And, what change happens to the files. Inventor is a file-based CAD system. A file can only be saved within a session in Inventor. Having multiple people editing the same file can lead to corruption.

Another thing to look into is to make sure all styles libraries and \Design Data\ folder are migrated and up-to-date. I have seen drawing related corruption due to unmigrated styles and standards.

Many thanks!
