I haven't found much on this other than a suggestion that this means the file became corrupt. Is that the case? I discovered this issue when I was trying to place a view for an assembly that contain the problematic sub-assembly. Thus, views could not be placed because of the error. There was no file in the OldVersions folder to make current so we went to Vault and brought to life a previous check in.

Yeah, segment errors are usually file corruption. But you should try to narrow down which subcomponent caused this, by opening the files separately. Also, use CTRL+F where possible to check for geometry corruption, and verify if deleting any iLogic or attached/OLE linked files will help. Of course, if some files will not open at all, the only alternative is to forward the data to tech support (or post here a sample and tag someone in the quality team): https://www.autodesk.com/support

Hi Kyle,

This type of corruption is usually hopeless unfortunately. It means the geometric definition (Brep) is corrupted. You will need to find the backup file from your PDM system or \OldVersions\ folder.

Many thanks!

I had this issue with a weld within my assembly. I deleted the weld and it fixed the problem!
