Engineering Change Notice

Hi all

I am wanting to implement a system where we can record on an official document, any engineering changes.

We have Vault Pro 2021 and Inventor Pro 2021. I am doing drawings in Inventor 3d. There are existing drawings in Autocad 2d and on paper, which will eventually be converted to Inventor 3d as well.

I use vault, but only for checking in and out,  and renaming at the moment..

I see vault has eco's which a previous user started using but I never continued.

I want a document that the engineers in the field can use to report their findings and recommend changes, the factory personnel doing the actual machining, welding, profile cutting, guillotining etc can use to report the problems and recommend changes, and anybody else with useful input can do the same.

Would the vault eco be okay for this or would it be better to have an actual word or excel document that can be filled in.

I would appreciated input from all you out there as to what you actually do to record your engineering changes.

Vault has an entire section for change orders.

For small changes I often put it in the comments section when checking in to say why I checked it out.

If you need more information you'd be better posting on the Vault forum.

@MikeKovacik4928

In my previous role I used Vault ECO all day every day.  It would be a good tool (once you set it up the way you want to use it), for managing the change process itself, once a change has been determined as needed.  It has a drawing markup feature that allows you to keep track of what was changed, and by whom.  But, it sounds like you want to also track the reasoning that led up to this point.  I'm not personally aware of any documents that can do that, but others may be doing something similar and may even have some kind of template you could start with.

I agree with @SharkDesign that, if you decide some day to start using the Vault ECO... help for that would be better found in the Vault forum.  Good luck with your search for a tracking document.... have you tried a Google search?

Thanks

I think I am definitely going to go ECO in vault. I will start practicing and using the Vault forum.

For the non vault users, ie engineers in the field and factory production staff, I think I will instititute a

standard word or excel document that can be printed, filled in, scanned and attached to the eco.
