I was wondering if there was a way to add and edit features on a part generated by an ipart factory without influencing the factory itself. Thanks

Hi! The quick answer is no. iPart was designed to create library components of similar design but different dimensions like nuts and bolts. The definition is all controlled by the iPart table.

Custom iPart allows you to edit the member file. But, it is more like a derived part. The base geometry is derived from the iPart factory (computed at the selected member row).

I guess the reason you are asking this question is to find the Configuration workflow. At the moment, the best Inventor Config workflow is iLogic. You can use iLogic to drive parameters within the part or across parts within an assembly. You only need to focus on setting up the parametric relationship for one given variation. Next you use iLogic Design Copy to generate the dataset. Then you can work on next variation.

Many thanks!
