Edit properties of 3DSketch getting slower over the latest releases of Inventor

Hi,

In Inventor we import IGES files from Zemax optical design software including rays which is converted to a 3Dsketch.

Until Inventor 2021 we had no problem working with these files. From about release 2021.1 to 2023, working on these 3Dskethes is growing to be very time consuming. Changing properties of a full 3Dsketch takes hours and previously it was minutes. We typical changes the color and line weight.

Does anyone have an explanation or a good idea of what to do to change the properties?

I have thought about if ilogic might be worth to try, but why should this be faster? 

Attached is a 3Dsketch with about 1/20 number of rays. Changing a property of this takes about 80s on my PC.

Can you share some details about your hardware specs?  I just tried your part on my system, and the changes were nearly instantaneous.

Your experience is very strange, but very positive though.

We have tried many different things previously and kept Inventor 2021 for along time because of a similar issue when shifting representation view, with a number of 3Dsketches on (suppressing seems to work)

We are running Inventor PRO 2022, HP Z4 and Lenovo P15/P17 workstations all with Nvidia Quadro graphics . Lots of RAM in all of them. I just updated the Nvidia driver. No change.

Yesterday I tried on a old computer HP Z400 with Inventor 2023 and not connected to server vault etc. with the same result. 

Procedure:

Ipt on local harddrive. Vault, design data, templates on a server.

Right click on 3Dsketch in browser, select properties and select e.g. color, OK, then wait.

Hi! The behavior does not sound right to me. I tried the same workflow in 2023 and it does seem to take a bit longer than I would anticipate it.

I need to work with the project team to understand it better.

Thanks for your information. I can reproduce the slowness issues with your attached file on Inventor 2023 release.

Nice to know we are not the only people having this experience.

You are the first one having confirmed this outside our company.

May I ask you if your computer has Nvidia Quadro graphics?

This is common to all (6)computers where we having the issue.

Getting old 2021.1 files will be rather hard to establish.

To get that I think we have to reinstall Inventor 2021 and the Vault server and restore a old backup.

I judge that it would be to much work to me at the moment.

The issue is not related to GPU as it can be reproduced with AMD W6800 Cards on my side. Thanks for your information.
