edit custom frame generator profile to change material

Hello,

I have created a custom profile for frame generator. When I created the part I set the material as aluminium.

When I use the profile in a frame generated assembly it inserts as usual but the alumninium colour look terrible (the edges are a light blue and stand out too much)

Can I edit the frame generated part so I dont have to edit each instance within the assebly to change the material.

Thanks

If you open the frame member that got pulled from content center..  Change the appearances as needed..  Go into your content center editor and change the library view to your custom library.  Right mouse click on the family table and select replace family template and pick the modified file.  The next time you use it, it should appear as needed.

You should be able to add a column in your Content Center family table, mapped to the model property "Material", and then add a material there.  Once you map a column to material, you can select the material above in "Expression" from a list of the available materials.

It looks like @cbenner took your requirements and viewed them differently.  Smiley Very Happy

  • I had assumed the material would've been in the content center family and you need a change in the appearances.
  • Chris assumed you didn't have the material definition already defined in your content center family.

Update:  So kind of clarify..  Just needing to change the material for each member or tweak the appearance..

I couldnt get this to work. No matter what material I chose it showed as Alum. I think its because the solid body of the part was set as aluminium instead of "as part".

Appreciate the help
