Dynamic Simulation

Hey guys! I've been using Inventor for longer than I would like to admit, and only recently gave "Dynamic Simulation" a deep dive. Is it me, or is the material on this tool non-existent? There's a couple youtube videos, but I feel like there should be some sort of "master class" for this topic! I've actually been able to produce some cool results with the tool, but ever since I've introduced a worm gear, it doesn't appreciate it at all! Are there any gurus out there that would like to chat about it? I'd be interested to see what other people have been able to actually get to function! Thanks guys, take care!

@ericVP6L4

We start from the basic and work to the complex.

Post your files here upon completion and then I have dozens more progressing to increasing complexity.

Those are definitely good intro videos! I guess the work I'm trying to accomplish would be more complex... This first video is a sequence video of trying to solve geometry on rotating a column into place. https://youtu.be/gYfQjS4jOqM

The second video (attached) is my current problem I'm working on. Trying to accomplish a hand crank to open a door. In the model environment, everything works good, but when I go into the dynamic sim environment, it doesn't work properly... After this mornings research, I feel like I have to try without "automatically convert constraints to Std joints" selected.

Hi Eric

I want to learn how to set dynamic simulation on a shaft has spiral groove on it similar a fishing reel line winding mechanism. The cam follower should go back and forward on Y axis.

If you can help me I will be happy. Inventor already has a fishing reel in tutorial folders, but the line winder not constrained with the cam shaft and follower.

Kind Regards
