Dynamic Simulation over-constraint assembly

Hi,

Could someone please explain to me why this Simulation keeps telling me it's over-constraint (by 1)

I tried it "all" but i can't figure it out

The goal here, is to find the force (torque) on the spindle, needed to move (rotate) the frame.

I'm just not sure I'm getting the correct results from the output grapher, when IV keeps saying it's over-constraint.

Thanks for your help....

The >>Wasim Younis<< book shows how to solve this issue, but even with the book I fear that the underlying cause is easy to miss.  I would show you the solution, but I do not have the time which is why I recommend the book.

Yes.

I forget which chapter - but it is related to the ramp mechanism.

I might find the time to set up your assembly.

That would be great JD.....

I've been in the book all afternoon, but i can't figure it out 😥

Point is that i understand the problem ( i think) but i just can't find the right joints to tackle this problem

@Walter-Eikelenboom

I ran into a problem that would require Autodesk assistance to resolve.

I have not seen interest by Autodesk in resolving this re-occurring issue over the years.

My work-around has always been to create a new assembly - but since I have retired I do not have the motivation to pursue the work-around.

Pinging @johnsonshiue

If I present an obvious bug in Dynamic Simulation - is there still anyone at Autodesk who works on Dynamic Simulation and has any interest in improving the environment?

Hi JD,

I wish you a happy retirement.

I share your Autodesk frustration from time to time 😵

I however won't give up trying to resolve my problem (still 15 years to go 😉)

I think i got the Simulation going and i am able to get the force required to drive the spindle.

Next, I also want to get the correct torque on the gearhinges from the Output Grapher and use the value in the Spur Gear Design Accelerator , to calculate strong enough gears (tooth's and all)

I'm just not sure which torque value i have to enter in the Spur Gear Design Accelerator.

The GEAR HINGE TOP RIGHT joint gives me a Moment of approx 4000 Nm, but it just doesn't feel right.

Can you please point me in the right direction?

Thanks for you're reply
