Hello,
I am having a problem with Inventor 2015 Professional (student version) crashing when the dynamic simulation for my project finishes. I am currently at my wits end as to what the problem is. I have also had issues with Inventor (Not Responding) for a period of time when stopping the simlutation halfway though and then another (Not Responding) when entering contruction mode (after stopping the simulation).
I'll start with my system specs and general setup:
CPU: Intel i7-3920xm (@4.0GHz rock stable)
Ram: 16GB 1600Mhz
Gpu:Nvidia GTX 980M (SLI) (using 358.59 drivers)
OS: Windows 8.1
Inventor 2015 Build: 223
There are no conflicting constraints or joints in the assembly or simulation environments, I am running a clean install of Inventor 2015 SP2 update 1, installed with User acounts control set to minimum, anti virus disabled.
I can't upload the files but essentially I am modeling a "waratah 616 felling head" (google images will help you) I have made some simplifactions to avoid sharp edges on the rollers, but the rollers are still relatively complex
The model behaves well as far as I can tell apart from some slight interferance with the log and rollers (about 3mm), it just takes an hour to complete a 7 second simulation (and then the crash)... I have tried a quite a few things all with the same results (running the reset utility, disabling hyper-threading and Data Exectution Protection, removing overclocks, different vbios and gpu drivers etc).
I am starting to think that I am just asking to much of my system dispite the actual simulation running fine although? Probably due to the complex 3D contact that the 3 rollers make with the log; the simulation really slows down once contact is made.
Can anyone offer some insight as to what is causing this crash? and possibly solution/trouble shooting steps that I havnt tried.
Thank you and Regards.
