DXF exported from flat pattern only shows first block placed

In a sheet metal part, I have a sketch that is copied to the flat pattern. This sketch contains a pattern of a block. The sketch shows exactly as it should in the flat pattern. I need to export this flat pattern as a DXF. When I save-as DXF and open it up, the DXF only shows the first instance of the block that was placed in the sketch. The only way I can get the DXF to show what I need is if I make multiple sketches and place only 1 block per sketch, and copy each sketch to the flat pattern. I would have to do this hundreds of times to show what I need on the DXF, so obviously this won't work for me. Any ideas if I am doing something wrong or could go about this another way?

It looks like a bug. I can reproduce the behavior. It's not only showing the first block, but in my case it's also repositioned. @johnsonshiue can you confirm this?

a workaround could be: edit your block definition, select all geometry, copy, close the block edit. then in your sketch past the geometry and do your pattern.

Thanks for your response. Also if you place the block and pattern it, then "explode" all the block instances it shows correctly in DXF. This is not a terrible work-around but would be better if bug could be fixed. This is in Inventor 21, my company updates every other year and will apply Inventor 23 when it is ready, so hopefully this bug can be squashed by then

Hi Theo and Michael,

This is definitely a bug. It should always be wysiwyg (what you see is what you get). It should work. Let me try it out and work with the project team to see what we can do. It is a very good catch!

Many thanks!

Hi Michael,

I am able to reproduce the behavior on my machine. I will work with the project team to understand it better.

Many thanks!
