DWG files keep crashing INVENTOR computer

We reguarlly make small staircases for another company. Our basic process is they supply us a with a really simple dwg and then we import the DWG to inventor and extrude the shapes from it. We have been doing it for years now and never had a problem.

Renetly the company we do these stairs for changed draftsman and now the DWG files hes sending through keep crashing inventor. if it does crash its extreamly slow.

Im not really good with Autocad, but i was wondering if there is somethig you can think off as to why this might be happening? is it a certain way the file is saved?

Thanks

"...the DWG files hes sending through keep crashing inventor."

Consider asking this question in an Inventor forum.

Try replacing any splines with polylines on complex curves/geometry. Inventor has a hard time absorbing some AutoCAD splines at times, to "close" geometry loops and make "water-tight" solid extrusions from them.

And, obviously, any samples you could provide would help confirm/test possible solutions here.

Hi! A few things to check. Please make sure all critical Windows updates are installed and the graphics driver is updated. Install the applicable Inventor updates. Go to Windows Control Panel -> Clock and Region -> Region -> Administrative -> Change System Locale -> uncheck "Beta: Use Windows Unicode UTF-8 for worldwide language support.

If you have access to AutoCAD, use RECOVER to open the dwg file -> Purge All. After that, does it still crash Inventor?

Please share an example that can reproduce the crash.

Many thanks!
